This national working summit will bring together over 100 descendants, academic scholars, reparations practioners, students, local community leaders and organizers to examine the barriers to implementing descendant-led reparative actions at colleges and universities with ties to slavery. Through dynamic panels, an interactive breakout session, and collective visioning, participants will help shape a final report and actionable recommendations.

The first Phoenix Rising event in The BlackRep’s 49th Season, Beats and Strings: The Soul Renaissance is an unique live music experience set in a nightclub aesthetic and performed by classical string instruments and electronic, percussive beats, featuring a string trio of Kansas City musicians: D. Dot Professor – DJ; K’Tina – Violin; and Robert McNichols, Jr. – Cello.
