One Year Mark of the Central VAP School Shooting: The Need for Introspection and Systems Change Moving through Trauma to Holistic Healing

The school shooting on Monday, October 24, 2022 was a wake-up call for Saint Louis. There are still many unanswered questions for our community. There is still much healing to be done, even beyond the Central VAP community.

Callais in 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court took two machete swipes at the Voting Rights Act of 1965, gutting the key elements that protect voting rights for African Americans. Black citizens wonder aloud as to why there needs to be special provisions and reauthorizations for a right that supposedly comes with U.S. citizenship.
